Congratulations on your engagement! We are sure that you have
many questions surrounding the planning and preparation for
a wedding celebration here at the Old Mission. The following
information will answer most of your questions. If we can assist

All priests coming into the Diocese of Monterey to witness a wedding must have his religious superior complete the "Letter of Permission and Testimonial of Suitability for Ministry" and fax this form to the Diocese of Monterey (fax: 831-373-1175) for clearance to witness the wedding at Mission San Juan Bautista.
People who live within the boundaries of Mission
San Juan Bautista Parish and are not registered,
are invited to register - see Scheduling A Wedding For Registered Parishioners
below.
Scheduling A Wedding (For Registered Parishioners):
Before a wedding can be scheduled at Old Mission San Juan Bautista,
you must do the following:

Contact Old Mission San Juan Bautista at least six
(6) months prior to the desired wedding date.

Schedule an appointment to meet with the Pastor of Mission
San Juan Bautista.

Pay $650 stipend (should you cancel your wedding, the stipend
is refundable except for $150 that goes to restore the Mission).
Please call the Parish Office to make an appointment to meet with the Pastor [831-623-2127] and pay the $650
stipend to Old Mission San Juan Bautista before
your wedding can be written on our calendar thereby confirming
the date.
Please sign and submit the completed top portion of the "Signature Page" (last page) of the Wedding Guidelines (click on link below) along with payment of the stipend. Your signatures indicate that you have read, understand, and agree to follow these Guidelines.

Scheduling A Wedding (For Non-Parishioners):
Before a wedding can be scheduled at the Old Mission San Juan Bautista, you must do the following:

Contact Old Mission San Juan Bautista at LEAST six (6)
months prior to the desired wedding date.

Obtain a "Letter of Permission" from your local
pastor:

Along with granting you permission to marry outside
your local parish, your parish priest also agrees
to prepare you and your fiancée for marriage.

Along with granting you permission to marry outside
your local parish, your parish priest also agrees
to travel to Old Mission San Juan Bautista to celebrate
the ceremony.
- Pay the $1000 stipend (beginning January 19, 2006). Should
you cancel your wedding, the stipend is refundable except
for $250 that goes to restore the Mission.

In order for you to have a successful wedding rehearsal and wedding day, the Parish of Old Mission San Juan Bautista provides a wedding hostess. She may be contacted through the Mission Office at 831-623-2127. Her services are provided for both parishioners and non-parishioners alike.
